Wordpress 2.7.1If you are using ver 2.7 now, you can automatically upgrade to 2.7.1 via the Tools->Upgrade menu, or you can download the package and upgrade manually.

If you’re using Wordpress version that is below 2.7, you will need to manually download and upgrade to this new version.

2.7.1 fixes 68 tickets.  The update includes 6 tickets with a high rating and more than 50 rated as normal. The update fixes security holes and will not alter the database and should not break anything including plugins or themes.

All my themes are working well on Wordpress 2.7.1.

Previously, all my themes were tested against all Wordpress version from 2.3 onwards. That is doable when I only need to work on less than 10 themes every time Wordpress releases a new version officially.

Since mid February 2009, I have decided to dedicate myself to releasing at least 4 themes and 10 articles/resources per month. After 3 months, you’ll expect to see a total of about 20 quality Wordpress themes on this site and all of the themes are free to download.

I foresee that I’ll be super busy in the months ahead so I will have very limited time left to test all the themes against previous as well as the latest Wordpress version. However, since you are using my theme (I am honour that you do), it is my responsibility to make sure it works on the latest Wordpress version that is released officially. I won’t test against the Beta Wordpress version.

When Wordpress officially releases a new version, I will test my themes against the latest version. It will be an ongoing process so you will have to wait a bit before ALL the themes complete the testing. When I have finished testing a theme, I will update it under the “Change Log” section of the respective theme pages.

However, my testing might not be so thorough so if you find that any of my themes that doesn’t work well on the most updated Wordpress version, please let me know and I’ll look into that and solve the issues the soonest.

Do I provide support for the older Wordpress versions?
I am afraid not. Though the upgraded theme should work with the older version, I advise you to upgrade your Wordpress to the latest version and use my theme that has been tested against that version.

The design and appearance used is one of the mainstays of a blog. That is why Templatelite has the redesign. Just admit it – an attractively designed blog will have more pulling power rather than a plain and dull blog with no graphics, pictures and so on. These will result in the blogs gaining followers and increased readership. There are several pointers and tips below for those intending to design their blogs to make it attractively appealing to others :

  • Adding Extras - a redesign will give you more opportunity on how you can extend the functionality of your blog by allowing adding extra features such as social bookmarking buttons, Subscriber Stats, RRS buttons, Portfolio Showcase, Chat Windows and many more. An extra feature that will make your subscriber stay and they will even invite their friends to join the blog.
Previously, I didn’t have any posts about design resources. Since this site is about theme design, it would be appropriate to include the resources. In future, I’ll also include more advertising options and probably do custom theme design and SEO work for others.
  • Rearranging your Blog – if you have a messy space on your blog it is not recommended that you have so many unnecessary components and elements. The best way is to remove some of the unnecessary components and retain the best parts of your blog that are neglected sometimes. Keep it smart, simple but effective.
Take a look at this site for example, the top left is the showcase of my latest themes. The sidebar lists only important sections that include introduction of Templatelite, search feature, RSS feature, archive, about our themes, Wordpress tips and tricks, useful resources, tag cloud etc. The footer has 3 columns showing the popular themes, recent posts and recent comments. I think all these sections are necessary for my blog.

RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) is a XML-based system for delivering regularly changing web content. It is a good way for people to keep up with their favorite web sites rather than checking them manually.

Everyone has seen the common RSS button. A special RSS icon that suits your template will make your feed subscription more appealing.

While I was compiling the list of the best RSS buttons, I found more than 200 good designs and the list is growing. As my visitors, I want to give you the best while not waiting for weeks to come out with the perfect list. Here it goes. The first part of the RSS buttons. Enjoy and stay tune for the second part of the list…

Finally, what you see here is a brand new design of Templatelite!

I used to work 2-3 hours/day on this site. However, if I want to become a serious blogger, this amount of time dedicated is insufficient to sustain a blog. I constantly think of new ideas and have decided to take this site to a new level. In short, this is what I plan to do:
1) creating at least 4 quality Wordpress themes per month
2) releasing at least 10 useful articles per month that are Wordpress, promotion or design related

I know this is not an easy task but I am committed to make it happen. Please subscribe to my blog and be a witness of my pledge :P

Btw, what do you think of this new Templatelite design? Also, what do you think if I make this theme available for free downloads?
