I constantly look out for ways to improve my themes. One thing about how special my themes is that I have incorporated a special font in the header title on some of my themes. Take a look at the demo of our Mouse IT theme, for example. Look at the header title. It doesn’t show one color code but it is the gradient blue. How do we achieve this effect? I use a CSS trick to create gradient text effect with a PNG image, no Javascript or Flash. Can I change the blog title in the WordPress admin? Definitely! In the WordPress admin, follow this process: Setting -> General. Then key in your blog title in the “Blog Title” field. Is the title SEO friendly? Yes. The title passed the W3C Validation so search engines can index it easily. Is it compatible with major browsers? Yes. This effect has been tested on IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Does your free theme downloaded elsewhere look nice on IE browser but look bad on Firefox? If your theme doesn’t look good on all major browsers, you are losing visitors. I know how important it is to have a theme with major browsers supported. Before I release every theme, I’ll test it rigorously on 6 most commonly-used browsers, namely IE7, IE8, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome!! As an example, I found a free theme and viewed it on Firefox. When I switch to IE, some images are missing. I then study why the images showed up on Firefox but disappeared on IE. On a closer look, I found out that the file extension of the images were .png (Portable Network Graphics). As of this writing, IE browser can’t display .png images. On Gravatar.com, users can register an account based on their email address, and upload an avatar to be associated with the account. This is how it works: When the user posts a comment on such a blog that requires an e-mail address, the blogging software checks whether that email address has an associated avatar at Gravatar.
